Introductory Workshop on Tantra

Introductory Workshop on Tantra

The Sanskrit word Tantra is composed of ‘tanoti’ and ‘traayate’. Tanoti means that which leads to expansion (of consciousness) and traayate means ‘that which liberated the mind’. Hence, in its widest sense, tantra means ‘that which liberates the mind and leads to expansion of consciousness’. Tantra in Hindi suggests a tool, a machine, or an organised structure. In that way every tool – external or internal- that can help in the expansion of our consciousness is Tantra. A very ancient Tantra, the Vijnanabhairava Tantra, for instance, gives us one hundred and twelve meditation practices which can lead to a grand shift in our awareness.
